Your Daily Glow
At school my child is encouraged to reflect on his daily “glow,” something he feels proud about having done that day.
In our work lives we reflect on our accomplishments: projects completed, sales made, advancements earned. Achievements are expressed in dollars, percentages, and action words: $5 million in sales; a 30% year-over-year increase; I developed, I implemented, I managed, etc.
But is there something you did today that you would add as a bullet point in your resume? Likely not. And yet you could probably identify some daily glow: a customer’s question answered; another bug fixed; maybe just a smile earned from a colleague having a hard time.
In turbulent times, that daily glow may be what sustains you. Today’s accomplishments may be small, but so what? Find that daily glow.
