Do you need to convince someone of something? Sell something? Find someone interested in funding your venture? Then give Pitch Club a try.

In the midst of a series of posts about Swift and image processing, I want to emphasize the inter-relatedness of the many roles at a startup. As a startup founder who happens to be a technologist, I find it easy to forget that my purpose is not to build a product. The purpose of a startup founder is to build the business that builds the product.

Amidst the many roles a startup founder assumes, one role is to pitch the business and its product to prospective customers, investors, and job applicants. My pitching needs work.

Pitch Club is a free weekly Zoom meeting attended by people from all over the world. Attendees can volunteer to give a pitch of no longer than three minutes. After each pitch, other attendees provide anonymous feedback on a simple web form. Pitches are followed by self-review and comments from the group.

You can pitch your startup, a work practice, or a method for healthier living. The idea is to practice, practice, practice. As an attendee, you also provide invaluable feedback to people giving pitches.

As of May 2021, Pitch Club meets every Thursday at 5:30 GMT.
